WHAT IS THE WAKANDA CELEBRATION?
Over the past 26 years, Luangisa African Gallery has proudly showcased one of a kind art, fashion, and handcrafted treasures from across Africa. At the core of our company is the belief that everyone in the diaspora has a place to call home, and so, we created Wakanda Celebration, an annual event where we honor, embrace, and celebrate African culture through art, fashion, music, and more. This year, we are thrilled to be celebrating our 5th Anniversary.
The Wakanda Celebration is a day to be surrounded with the beauty of African culture while supporting artisans who use creativity to showcase their home’s unique beauty. Whether it is through tasting authentic cuisines, dancing to traditional music, listening to live music, or shopping for original pieces of handcrafted art and fashion, there is something for everyone. Since the first Wakanda Celebration, we have expanded the day’s events with the goal of giving the Mount Vernon community a surprise to look forward to each year.
